The weather has been crazy harsh lately – scorching hot at nine in the morning and pouring heavily at night. As for me who walks back and forth to work, I lost the itch to come to work dressed up in heels. You’d see me most of the time in slippers or sneakers, casual dress or jeans, hair tied up in a high bun, and totally makeup-free. I thought, what’s the makeup for? I get out there, walk as easily as I can to avoid sweat, but dust will surely be everywhere. If it rains, I might have to position my head under my umbrella where it would be 100% dry, not a wisp of water should land on my face.
Not only does this unpredictable weather ruin our look-of-the-day, it also damages our skin in so many ways. The UV (ultra violet) radiation which our bodies are exposed to every day, affects our skin’s DNA and causes long-term damage. How? These rays penetrate into our skin that leads to degeneration of skin cells. In result, it creates visible fine lines, wrinkles, flaky skin, sunburn, or worse, skin cancer and other diseases.
So what do we do now? In this changing weather, we must consider updating our skin care. We should apply extra sun protection if we must or be flexible with our skin care formulation like with our moisturizers.
